Thing One
Congratulations to reccewife for winning a copy of Epic Mom.
It actually works out nicely, since both of our husbands are in the Canadian Forces, and we're currently working on Operation Neighbours and Best Friends. It's a super top-secret mission that basically consists of me figuring out how our husbands can get posted to the same base. So now I'll know her address, which might make things a little bit easier. Anyway, your book will come to you after Christmas, and then we can read it at the same time and talk about it during our first book club meeting.
Anyone else who wants to join my book club is more than welcome! Buy the book. Read the book. Then come over to my house and drink wine. (I love book clubs.)

Thing Two
Bon Iver Erotic Stories*
"Bon Iver is nervous about flying. ‘We won’t crash,’ I say, kissing him. ‘We’re meant to be together for at least another hundred years.’
‘It’s not that,’ he says sadly. ‘I don’t like to think about all the geese who are confused, seeing us hurtling through the air."
This tumblr makes me lol forever (even though, like JRose, tumblr's discrimination against the letter e makes me twitch a bit).
* Not actually erotic stories. Sorry to disappoint.

Thing Three
Shut Up, Mouth!
I love this illustrated post by Leauxra.
Verbal diarrhea. It's a thing.
FYI: Someday I'm going to write a graphic novel, and by that point I'll already be rich and famous from my other novels, which will make it much easier to lure Leauxra into a collaboration. (See? The girl can draw. Actually, she can write, too. So she doesn't need me. That's where being rich and famous will help my case.)

Thing Four
Abby loves her iPhone.
A lot.
And I love this post. I've been reading Abby Gabs for going on two years now, and she always makes me smile. I especially love the direction she's been taking with her blog lately, with lots of funny illustrated posts. Dig around her blog for lots more.
You may have noticed that I kind of have a thing for illustrated posts.

Thing Five
My new favourite Murrmurrs post: Beating the Spread. Murr has a way with words that fills me with equal parts envy and delight. Everything in this blog post needs to be quoted. For example:
"That's it, we say. That's why I'm this way. It's because of my mother. Or wheat."
"And it's easier to come up with reasons for being an asshole, say, than to just quit being an asshole."
I'm a sucker for a blog post that both makes me laugh and makes me think. I wonder what my caption would read?

Thing Six
Ultrasound
I love Beth's sweet hand-drawn comics. And she speaks the truth: ultrasounds do look kind of like slugs.
How anybody can determine what they see in an ultrasound is beyond me! All I see is slug-like figures...with a head.
ReplyDeleteYaaaaay!! Thanks for including me in your round up. I really DO love my iphone! Looking forward to getting to know a few new bloggers.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to be happy.....
ReplyDeleteOooh - new stuff to read! I love it when you share...
ReplyDeleteI love it when you share too, especially when you share ME! Oh boy! Makes me feel all humble, and a little funny in the tummy. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome blogs to check out!
ReplyDeleteI love when you share links, Stephanie! You always show me things I never would have seen otherwise!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the goodies. (And they're not even fattening!)
ReplyDeleteI'll join the book club! Well, as long as drinking wine isn't required. The whole I'm-underage-and-think-alcohol-stinks thing kind of gets in the way of that.
ReplyDeleteI want to join the book club! And not just for the hope of good snacks!
ReplyDeleteAll great things to love!
ReplyDeleteI will come to any and all book club meetings. With wine. And MOV.
ReplyDelete*gasp* I got mentioned! I'm so honored! Squee!
